protected class PubSubConsumer.ConsumerShutdownHook
extends java.lang.Thread

This Thread will be started when the consumer receives a shutdown signal from the os. It is established via the Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(new ConsumerShutdownHook()); in the init() method. The purpose of this is to allow a "clean" shutdown of the consumers without losing any messages that might be in progress when shutdown occurrs.
